Ryanair has announced a $900 million commitment linked to its decision to retain a ninth aircraft based in Malta for Summer 2026, alongside network expansion and operational growth.
The airline’s Summer 2026 schedule will increase total routes to 70, with new connections to Gothenburg, Newcastle, Palma and Tirana, and higher frequencies on more than 40 established routes.
Ryanair expects this expansion to raise annual passenger traffic to six million in 2026, representing 20 per cent growth, while supporting over 4,700 jobs in Malta, including 30 new aviation roles.
The announcement builds on Ryanair’s recent infrastructure footprint in Malta, notably a dedicated maintenance hangar and the expansion of Malta Air’s 700 sqm head office in Pietà.
