Malta welcomed an estimated 386,776 inbound tourists in June 2025, representing a 10.8 per cent increase compared to the same month last year, according to newly published figures by the National Statistics Office (NSO).

Holidaymakers made up the majority, with 357,834 visitors travelling for leisure, while 19,437 tourists arrived for business purposes. The largest share of arrivals were aged between 25 and 44 (35.3 per cent), followed by the 45-64 age group (27.4 per cent). British, Italian, and French residents accounted for 43.6 per cent of all inbound tourists.

The number of total nights spent increased by 8.6 per cent to almost 2.5 million nights, with 89.8 per cent of guest nights spent in rented accommodation establishments. The average length of stay stood at 6.4 nights.

Tourist spending reached €395.9 million, up 19.1 per cent compared to June 2024. Average expenditure per night increased to €159.5. Visits to Gozo and Comino totalled 239,332, representing 61.9 per cent of total tourists, including both same-day and overnight visitors.

First half of 2025

For the period January to June 2025, inbound tourists totalled 1,805,730, a 13.5 per cent increase over the same period last year. Total nights spent rose by 13.2 per cent to nearly 10.7 million nights.

Total expenditure for the first six months of the year reached €1.56 billion, up by 21.1 per cent compared to 2024. Average expenditure per capita increased to €866, from €812 recorded last year.

Gozo and Comino attracted 988,087 visitors (54.7 per cent of total tourists) during this period.
