Malta’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.6 per cent in April 2025, up from 2.1 per cent in March, latest data from Eurostat shows.
This places Malta’s inflation 0.4 percentage points above the euro area average of 2.2 per cent, as measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).
The main contributors to the increase were food and non-alcoholic beverages and transport, each adding 0.68 percentage points to the overall rate. These were followed by restaurants and hotels, which contributed an additional 0.53 percentage points.
On the other hand, the Communication Index recorded the largest downward impact, reducing the overall inflation rate by 0.14 percentage points.
