In 2024, 80,946 foreign students attended English language courses at 33 local ELT schools, a 3 per cent increase from the previous year.

Key insights from the National Statistics Office report include:

• Accommodation: 30 per cent of students stayed in hostels or residences, 29% in private accommodation, 15 per cent in hotels, and 26 per cent with host families or other lodging.
• Delivery Mode: Students accounted for 256,868 student weeks, with 99.8 per cent of courses held in person. The average stay was 3.2 weeks.
• Staffing: There were 743 teaching and academic staff, with 24 per cent aged 25-34 and 66.4 per cent being female.
• Peak Months: July was the busiest month for enrolments, followed by August and March.
• Age Breakdown: The largest student group was aged 15 and under (28.1 per cent), followed by ages 16-17 (22 per cent).
• Country of Origin: Italy was the leading source of students (24.9 per cent), followed by France (10.3 per cent) and Germany (10.1 per cent).
• Gender: Female students made up 61.3 per cent of the total.
• Older Students: Students aged 50 and over comprised 8.9 per cent of the total.
