Malta’s growing family office sector was the focus of a series of discussions in Portugal, as representatives from Trident Trust, Camilleri Preziosi, Bank of Valletta (BOV) and the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) met with industry practitioners in Porto and Lisbon.
The visit provided an opportunity to explore emerging opportunities in the family office sector and examine the potential for greater collaboration between Malta and Portugal.
Albert Cilia, Managing Director at Trident Trust Malta, described the week as both busy and productive, highlighting the value of engaging with industry practitioners and exchanging perspectives on the sector’s development.
Of particular significance, he said, was the growing collaboration and the synergies developing between the two jurisdictions, which have the potential to create significant value for families and their advisors.
The participation of Camilleri Preziosi, BOV and the MFSA also brought together expertise from across Malta’s professional services, banking and regulatory landscape, reflecting the range of capabilities involved in supporting family offices and internationally mobile families.
The discussions come as the family office sector continues to evolve, with cross-border exchanges of expertise and closer cooperation between financial centres becoming increasingly important.
Trident Trust said such engagement helps strengthen ties between Malta and Portugal, creating opportunities not only for families and their advisors but also for the wider financial services community.
The company indicated that it intends to build on the momentum generated during the visit, as it continues to engage with prospective clients and industry stakeholders interested in Malta’s family office offering.
