Malta will co-host the African Economic Global Convergence (AEGC) Summit in June 2026, positioning the country as a European convening point for high-level dialogue on African economic development, investment, and international cooperation.
The AEGC Summit is a global platform designed to bring together policymakers, investors, development institutions, and sector leaders to address the continent’s most pressing challenges. Its focus is on forming practical, scalable partnerships that support security, economic growth, and long-term development across Africa.
The decision to hold the 2026 edition in Malta follows a diplomatic consultation held locally, where Mrqs. Anthony C. Coleiro, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, welcomed a high-level delegation from AEGC. The delegation included McEva Temofe IMC, Founder and Convener of AEGC; Ms Thelma George, Head of Global Government, Strategic and Development Partnerships; and Mr Giuliano Alarcon, AEGC’s Europe Director.
The upcoming summit aims to strengthen Africa–Europe cooperation while placing African transformation more prominently on the global economic agenda. Organisers say the Malta summit will serve as a platform to mobilise investment and support for Africa’s development priorities, encouraging partnerships that channel global capital into local initiatives.
Past AEGC summits have attracted wide international participation. The most recent edition, hosted at The Yale Club in New York on the margins of the UN General Assembly (UNGA80), brought together Heads of State, investors, UN officials, development finance institutions, and policy experts.
