Malta Ship Registry showcases maritime offering at Monaco Yacht Show

The Malta Ship Registry is participating in the Monaco Yacht Show, as Malta seeks to showcase its ship and superyacht registration framework to international yacht owners, managers and maritime industry professionals.
Transport Malta said the Registry is using its presence at the event to connect with yacht owners, managers, industry leaders and other maritime professionals from around the world.
Malta has established itself as a significant European maritime jurisdiction, offering an EU-based legal and regulatory framework alongside an ecosystem of professional services catering for shipowners, operators, investors and financiers.
Administered by Transport Malta’s Merchant Shipping Directorate, the Malta Ship Registry is one of the largest international ship registers. The Maltese flag is also included on the Paris MoU and Tokyo MoU White Lists and meets the eligibility requirements of the US Coast Guard’s QUALSHIP 21 programme.
Malta’s registration framework covers a broad range of vessels, including pleasure and commercial yachts, commercial ships, vessels under construction and vessels registered under bareboat charter arrangements. Vessels may also be registered by legally constituted corporate bodies or entities irrespective of nationality, subject to applicable requirements.
For the superyacht sector specifically, Malta provides a framework for commercial yachts measuring 12 metres or more which do not carry cargo and accommodate no more than 12 passengers. The Commercial Yacht Code establishes standards covering areas including safety and pollution prevention.
Beyond vessel registration itself, the sector supports a wider network of Maltese legal, corporate, financial, technical and maritime service providers, creating business opportunities linked to yacht ownership, financing, management, compliance and operations.
Transport Malta described the Maltese flag as representing the country's “strong maritime heritage” and a commitment to supporting the international yachting community.
