Malta and Monaco have signed a Protocol updating their 2018 Double Taxation Agreement.
The update aligns the bilateral agreement with the latest international tax standards and introduces clearer procedures and safeguards aimed at improving certainty for taxpayers and tax administrations in both jurisdictions.
The revised agreement is intended to strengthen fiscal cooperation while ensuring that cross-border economic activity between the two states is supported by an updated and more transparent tax framework.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg held high-level meetings with Monaco’s Minister of State Christophe Mirmand, Foreign Affairs Minister Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, and Minister of Finance and Economy Pierre-André Chiappori.
Discussions focused on areas of shared economic interest, including tourism, cruising, yachting, the blue economy and digital innovation, with an emphasis on exploring new partnerships, capacity building and the exchange of best practices between public authorities and commercial stakeholders.
Diplomatic relations between Malta and Monaco were formally established on 11th April 2001.
