How have you found life in Malta?

After more than 11 years here, Malta has proven to be an exceptional place to live and work. It offers a business environment that is dynamic, close-knit and genuinely supportive. Because the island is compact, it is easy to reach the right people, build relationships and move quickly from discussion to execution. Malta’s established sectors, particularly iGaming, fintech and professional services, create a strong base of expertise that companies like ours rely on to grow and innovate.

What is running an international business from Malta like?

Running Paytently from Malta has worked extremely well. The talent pool is strong, the regulatory landscape is supportive of innovation, and the overall environment encourages growth. Attracting international employees is often easier than expected, as many people are keen to relocate for the combination of career opportunity and lifestyle.

Malta is also a very practical and attractive place to bring clients and partners, so I’ve found people really look forward to visiting. It has become a recognised meeting point for fintech and digital industries, and many global events take place here, which helps build visibility and relationships.

What advice would you give those who are considering making Malta their home?

My honest advice is simply: come and experience it for yourself. I relocated in 2016, and we’ve never looked back. Our children were born here, attend school here and are growing up in a warm, safe and supportive community. Malta offers that rare combination of professional opportunity and genuine well-being. Once you settle in, it becomes clear why so many people choose to build their lives here.

What advice would you give those who are considering investing in Malta?

Malta offers strong potential for investors looking for a stable and forward-thinking environment. The country has taken a proactive approach to regulation in financial services and digital assets, and the early adoption of a clear framework under MiCA has strengthened Malta’s position within the European Union. This creates a level of clarity and predictability that is very valuable for long-term investment.

The continued growth of the iGaming sector, together with the consistency of the tourism market and the development of surrounding industries, adds to the overall opportunity. Investors who value a well-regulated, strategically located and innovation-minded jurisdiction will find Malta a compelling place to commit capital.
