The world-renowned culinary symposium Food on the Edge will take place in Malta this October, marking the first time the event is taking place outside of Ireland.
Originally founded in Galway in 2015 by Chef JP McMahon, Food on the Edge brings together chefs, food producers, industry leaders and food enthusiasts to discuss the future of food, sustainability and gastronomy.
Although it has always been held in Ireland so far, it will take place in Malta on 19th and 20th October this year.
Chef JP McMahon, Founder and Symposium Director of Food on the Edge said it is fitting that the event’s first international destination is a fellow European island.
“I believe there are many parallels between Ireland and Malta regarding our food cultures, and I look forward to developing a meaningful dialogue between our two nations,” he said.
“Our goal is to bring together chefs and food entrepreneurs from across the globe to Malta, providing a unique platform to showcase the island’s exceptional culinary landscape to the world."
Malta Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer, Carlo Micallef said that the arrival of Food on the Edge in Malta marks a significant step in the MTA’s ongoing commitment to establishing the Maltese Islands as a premier destination for culinary excellence.
“By collaborating with the Malta Food Agency and Heritage Malta, we are ensuring that Malta’s gastronomic story is told with authenticity, opening global opportunities for Maltese food producers and chefs while attracting visitors who value high-quality, culturally-rich food experiences that our islands offer,” he said.
