Euro area annual inflation is expected to be 2.2 per cent in March 2025, down from 2.3 per cent in February according to a flash estimate from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, services is expected to have the highest annual rate in March (3.4 per cent, compared with 3.7 per cent in February), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (2.9 per cent, compared with 2.7 per cent in February), non-energy industrial goods (0.6 per cent, stable compared with February) and energy (-0.7 per cent, compared with 0.2 per cent in February).
In Malta, the inflation rate is below EU-wide estimates at 2 per cent, the same rate in February 2025, and -0.2 per cent of January’s rate.

Annual inflation is the change of the price level of consumer goods and services between the current month and the same month of the previous year. Monthly inflation is the change of the price level between the current month and the previous month.
