The number of final deeds of sale and promise of sale agreements relating to residential property amounted to 1,157 and 1,316, respectively in May 2026.
In both cases, the numbers were lower than those registered in May last year, but the value of the deeds of sale and promises of sale was higher.
The value of the deeds of sale in May this year totalled €342.3 million, representing an increase of 2.5 per cent when compared to the corresponding value recorded in May 2025, data published by the National Statistics Office shows. The value of the promises of sale was €604.0 million, representing an increase of 29.2 per cent when compared to the corresponding value recorded in May 2025.
The highest numbers of final deeds of sale were recorded in the following localities: St Paul’s Bay (98), Birkirkara (68) and Marsaskala (51).
The NSO premised that a single final deed of sale or promise of sale agreement may include more than one property. The number of properties transacted in the final deeds of sale was equivalent to 1,261 in May. Apartments (466) and garages (294) accounted for the largest shares.
The highest numbers of promise of sale agreements were recorded in the following localities: St Paul’s Bay (88), Birkirkara (70) and Marsaskala (50).
