The Rolex Middle Sea Race brings together an international fleet for one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious offshore sailing events.

VisitMalta supports the race as part of its ongoing commitment to initiatives that contribute to Malta’s tourism offering and reinforce the Islands’ appeal beyond the traditional summer season. With its international participation and established reputation within the sailing community, the event forms part of Malta’s programme of major sporting events.

Malta’s Tourism Minister Jo Etienne Abela highlighted that this year’s race brought together more than 100 vessels representing 43 countries, further strengthening Malta’s position on the international sailing calendar.

“It is an important event for Malta, as it attracts quality tourism, raises our international profile, and showcases our maritime heritage and the strengths of our destination. These are all elements that align with our strategy and the type of tourism we continue to promote, tourism that delivers value while supporting Malta’s long-term vision,” he said.

Malta Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer Carlo Micallef said the Rolex Middle Sea Race remains an annual fixture in Valletta’s Grand Harbour, attracting visitors to Malta to witness the start of the event.

“It is our pleasure to promote and support the event, helping to ensure its continued success while further strengthening Malta’s international profile with an affluent cultured audience,” Mr Micallef said.

The 2026 edition concluded with an awards ceremony at the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC), recognising the achievements of the crews who competed in the demanding offshore race.

Django 7X, owned by Giovanni Lombardi Stronati, secured the overall title, while Black Jack 100 claimed monohull line honours, marking the conclusion of another edition of the internationally recognised sailing event.
