Malta has retained all seven of its Michelin-starred restaurants in the 2026 edition of the MICHELIN Guide, while expanding its overall footprint to 48 recognised establishments, including six new recommendations.
The latest guide confirms continued stability at the top end of the market, with six one-star restaurants – Rosamì, Fernandõ Gastrotheque, Under Grain, Noni, De Mondion and Le GV – and ION Harbour by Simon Rogan maintaining its two-star status. The Bib Gourmand category, which recognises quality dining at moderate prices, now features five restaurants following the addition of Verbena in Mġarr.
Five restaurants have joined the list of recommended establishments: Osteria Scottadito in Nadur, Bistro Boca in Ta’ Xbiex, Anima and Le Majoliche in St Julian’s, and Scala in Mdina.
Three Special Awards were also presented. George Attard received the MICHELIN Young Chef Award for his work at Level Nine at The Grand in Gozo. The Service Award went to Rosamì under the direction of Charlo Cachia, while Miljan Radonjic of De Mondion received the Sommelier Award.
In comments accompanying the announcement, MICHELIN Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec noted continued tourism growth and infrastructure development across the islands, suggesting the potential for further high-profile openings in the coming years.
Tourism Minister Ian Borg and Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef described the recognitions as aligned with Malta’s strategy to attract higher-value visitors and strengthen the destination’s premium positioning.
