Final deeds of sale increased by 9.4 per cent, whereas promise of sale agreements increased by 6.1 per cent, when compared to figures from April of last year.
The number of final deeds of sale relating to residential property reached 1,149 in April 2026, while promise of sale agreements totalled 1,417, according to provisional figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The value of final deeds of sale amounted to €347.3 million during the month under review, representing an increase of 9.9 per cent over April 2025. Promise of sale agreements also registered a 9.9 per cent increase in value year-on-year, reaching €530.3 million.
Individual buyers, classified as households, accounted for the vast majority of transactions. Of the 1,149 final deeds of sale registered in April, 1,062 – or 92.4 per cent – involved individual buyers. These transactions represented €291.7 million, equivalent to 84 per cent of the total value recorded for the month.
San Pawl il-Baħar recorded the highest number of final deeds of sale at 103, followed by Mosta with 65 and Birkirkara with 60.
A total of 1,256 properties were transacted through final deeds of sale during April 2026. Apartments accounted for the largest share at 460 properties, followed by garages at 302. Houses, including villas, bungalows and terraced houses, totalled 179 transactions, while maisonettes reached 118.
Meanwhile, individual potential buyers accounted for 1,281 promise of sale agreements, equivalent to 90.4 per cent of all agreements registered during the month.
San Pawl il-Baħar also topped the list for promise of sale agreements with 112 registrations, followed by Birkirkara with 86 and Ħal Qormi with 72.
